Exchequer Bill, [7th June 1701], [25] pounds, with interest at a [penny] per day, #5058, signed Halifax, black on thick paper, usual scrollwork at either side, endorsements on the reverse. Charles Montagu, 1st Earl Halifax, 1661-1715, created Baron Halifax in 1700 and created Earl in 1714, Chancellor of the Exchequer, 1694-1699, First Lord of the Treasury from 1714 until his death. Slightly ragged edges, mount marks on the reverse, near VF.
