Exchequer Bill, [26th November] 1713, 100 pounds, with interest at 2 pence per day, part of £1,200,000 raised, #3143, signed Halifax, black on thick paper, larger size bill, scrollwork at either side, endorsements on the reverse. Charles Montagu, 1st Earl Halifax, 1661-1715, created Baron Halifax in 1700 and created Earl in 1714, Chancellor of the Exchequer, 1694-1699, First Lord of the Treasury from 1714 until his death. Has been mounted in paper 'frame', with some tape staining, fine and rare.
