Great Britain: Liverpool and Manchester Railway Company, £25 share, 1829, #7138, black printing, on vellum, pink seal. Incorporated on 5th May 1826. A line designed to shorten transportation times between the cities. It was opened in 1830, and the journey by steam locomotive took 2 hours 54 minutes rather than the 36 hours it had taken by canal. The line became successful for passenger traffic as a result. It was absorbed by the Grand Junction Railway in 1845 and later formed part of the London and North Western Railway. Near EF and rare early date.

U.S.A.: Southern Life Insurance and Trust Company of Florida, 5% Loan, 1839, bond for $1000 or £225, #369, guaranteed by the Territory and handsigned by the governor R.K. McCall, attractive scrollwork at sides, large format, black, with coupons. Interest was payable in London. Only 400 issued. The company underwrote various insurances but operated mainly as a bank and also issued notes in the Territory. These bonds form part of the repudiated debt of the State of Florida. GVF and scarce early piece.
