A line from Edinburgh to Berwick, connecting with the York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway there. The company took over many other lines in Scotland and the North of England, totalling over 50 railways. The lines of the North British formed a section of the 'East Coast Route' from London to Scotland, and part of the alternative 'Waverley Route' together with the Midland Railway. Near EF.
