Australia: British Bank of Australia Limited, £5 shares, 18[89], #389, scrollwork left, black. Incorporated in Victoria in 1888 but suspended payment in 1891 due to the fall in real estate values and the general banking crisis. The bank did considerable business in Tasmania and a consequence of the failure of the Bank of Van Diemen's Land was a run on the company's branch in Launceston. VF and rare.
