New Hampshire, one share, [1799], #269, signed by Samuel Blodget as President, black, paper seal. The canal was started in 1798 along the Merrimack River joining New Hampshire with Massachusetts. It was completed in 1807 with a total of 9 locks. Samuel Blodget, lawyer and industrialist, instrumental in the renaming of the town of Derryfield to Manchester in honour of the English textile town. A little splitting at folds, VF and rare.
